Padmadurga Fort

Building Padmadurg was not as easy as you think. If you study this fort properly, you will see Samrajgad, Khokri fort and Janjira in front. Janjira was on fire. It looked like a ghari from the ships and the fort was standing despite the danger to life. Daryasarang, Daulat Khan, Jiwaji Vinayak, Moropant Pingale were working hard. The strong fortifications and the inner and outer walls of this fort, the water tanks, the interior construction are all of perfect skill. Even when Janjira was in front of his mouth, the fort was built by the Mavals of the Maharaj

This is also a fantastic thing. The eyes of the Marathas were glistening with oil in their eyes from the windows of Padma Durga. Occasionally a fleet of ships sailed from Surat to Maksad. However, the Maharaja said, "In front of Janjira, a new Janjira has been built and another Rajapuri has been built on the Uravari of Rajapuri."

Fort Padmadurg A fort in the sea to the west of the sea shore of Murud is the same Padmadurg aka Casa fort. Tourists who come to see Murud Janjira do not usually go to see Padmadurg, because just as boats are easily available to go to Janji, boats are not easily available to go to Padmadurg. For this you have to go to this fort by private boat from Murud. The fort built by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is still standing today. In the words of Shivaraya, "Uravari of Rajapuri (Janjira) is the second Rajapuri fort after the construction of Padmadurg". This beautiful fort is worth a visit.

Janji's achievement was a nuisance to the Konkan belt. He needed to be restrained. For this, Shivaraya built Samrajgad near Murud and brought control over the movement on the land of Siddhi. So to curb Siddi's movement on the sea, the Maharaja decided to build a fort on Casa Island in the sea near Murud. At the same time, stonemasons, bricklayers, blacksmiths and carpenters were sent to Casa Island. When he heard this news, he became upset, as this fort would limit his movement in the sea. He had taken the armor and prepared to climb. But the Maharaja had already appointed Daryasarang Daulat Khan to ensure the achievement. The task of supplying the fort was entrusted to the influential Subhedar Jivaji Vinayak. On January 18, 1657, the Maharaja had written a letter to Jiwaji Vinayak and opened his ears. Shivaji Maharaj's Mavals achieved success day and night. He built the fort by fighting. Shivaraya was the first constable of Padmadurg Subhanji Mohite was selected. In 1676, under the leadership of Moropant Pingale, the Maharaja launched an expedition against Janji. Then Moropant made a bold plan to climb Janji. Lai Patla, the head of Sonkolya in Ashtagara, who works at Pamdurga, accepted this formidable challenge. One night Lai Patil left Padmadurg with 8-10 of his colleagues. Taking advantage of the darkness, he went behind Janji and put rope ladders on the wall and waited for the holder of Moropant. Disappointed to see that the army had not arrived at dawn, Lai Patla reached Padmadurg. Seeing this courage of Lai Patal, Shivaji Maharaj honored him with a palanquin. But Lai Patla politely refused the palanquin as to what was the use of the palanquin to the goldfish roaming in the river. From this Maharaj understood what he was. He tied up a boat named Moropanta and named it "Palkhi" and handed it over to Lai Patal.

In addition, the kings gave Lai Patlas umbrellas, clothes, flags, and a "serpentine" of the riverbank.

During the reign of Sambhaji Maharaj, Padmadurg was in Swarajya.
